About the Ballroom Dance Conservatory

The Ballroom Dance Conservatory is designed for ambitious dancers in grades 7 through 12, who desire a comprehensive training in the art forms of ballroom and Latin dance. Students explore the diverse rhythms, techniques, and characteristics of the five international ballroom dance styles, the five international Latin dance styles, and the four American smooth dance styles. The Ballroom Dance Conservatory's faculty is comprised of well-known professionals in the industry, including world championship competitors, judges, and studio owners from Southern California, providing students with one-of-a-kind classes and world-class training.

Student Experience

Ballroom Dance Conservatory students attend various competitions throughout the school year, including the Hollywood DanceSport Championships, the California Open, and the Emerald Ball, competing in the categories of International Latin, International Ballroom, and American Smooth. The conservatory is widely recognized for its championship award-winning Latin Formation Team. In addition to training for competitions, students have the opportunity to prepare for and perform in the Ballroom Dance Conservatory’s year-end main stage production, which highlights any material learned throughout the year. There are additional performance opportunities available through the program’s audition-only group, Ballroom Stars, which performs at charitable events for organizations throughout the community, such as the Santa Ana Police Activities League and the Seal Beach Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Preparing Students for the Future

The Ballroom Dance Program prepares its students to follow either a professional or collegiate path. Upon graduating, students possess the skills and experience needed to audition for professional dance jobs, enter studio life as a competitor or instructor, and/or attend a four-year university. Ballroom Dance faculty members help prepare students to work as talented and creative individuals in the professional ballroom dance industry, as well as create audition videos for various scholarship programs and university submissions.
